Add Value to Your Home

With the start of a brand new year, many are turning to the property search. If you don’t already own your own home this can be a much easier process, but for those of you looking to sell your home in order to buy your next, adding value to your existing property can be one of your top priorities during this time. Adding value can seem like a daunting task, but really it’s down to a few simple steps that we at Leader Doors can help you with. We’ve put together a list of some simple renovations or makeovers that can add value to your home from both an estate agent and prospective buyer’s perspective. Pay Attention to the Exterior

The front of your house is the first chance you have to make a lasting impression, so make sure that you tidy the front garden, consider paving over some of the lawn to create more parking space, paint any chipped or fading exteriors and finally add some brand new outdoor lighting to give your home a cosy and inviting look.

Refurbish Your Front Door

If your front door is looking a bit worn and shabby, consider replacing it. If it still appears smart and fresh, make some small replacements such as the door knob or handle, a new letterbox (brass looks best!) and a modern looking house number.

Improve the Kitchen

The quality and style of the kitchen is a big decider for prospective buyers, so if you can’t afford to replace the kitchen before you sell, make sure you give it a makeover by replacing the worktops and perhaps adding a modern feature such as a breakfast bar by sectioning off part of the worktop especially for this purpose.

Upstyle the Bathroom

Another room that’s really important to prospective buyers is the bathroom. Making some simple replacements such as new taps, a large shower head, a glass screen instead of a curtain or even a heated chrome towel rail can really increase the value of a bathroom to buyers.
