Keyless access: the new reality of safer workplaces – Life Unlocked

Workforce leaders around the world are desperately trying to restructure workplaces in order to be more secure after the breakout of the pandemic of coronavirus. Many employees don’t enjoy working from home for a longer period or even have the option to do so. But still – for many of us, a large portion of our days is spent at the office. Needless to say, COVID-19 won’t disappear overnight. We must therefore try and do our best to prevent it from spreading further. The current crisis is driven by a health problem: we don’t yet have a treatment or a vaccine for COVID-19 and until the health problem is solved, places of work will be opportunities for infected people to infect others.

Now is the time to thoroughly think about how we can safely reopen workplaces. One thing is for sure, our day-to-day working environment has changed forever. We’re glad to be able to offer a key solution to one of the many challenges to come. We built Klevio to allow you to open doors from anywhere, saving you time and money in the process as well as having one less thing to think about. Klevio is no longer just a means of managing access – it is a product that can prevent COVID-19 from spreading.

Always-on solutions to the rescue

Many workplaces, especially offices will gradually reopen. Whilst the experience of working remotely during the lockdown will inevitably contribute to changed practices around the world, key questions still remain: who exactly works in the office and when? The so-called always-on solutions (technologies and processes that limit the spread of the virus) will soon need to be implemented into our workplaces, and likely on a semi-permanent basis.

These are some of the implementations that we will make:

  • face masks,
  • routine hand-washing,
  • hand sanitizing stations,
  • plexiglass screens at reception desks,
  • various automated check-out systems.

We realise that some interactions are necessary, but with these precautions in place, the risk involved will be significantly lessened. Other precautions focus on the ways by which contact itself can be reduced. We see this as involving the redesigning of physical spaces and workflows as well as reductions in the capacity of employees or customers.

Now onto the positive news – the use of Klevio, in of itself, can help prevent the spread of COVID-19. How exactly?

Keyless door entry for cleaner workspaces

People who are handling keys that are being used by different people are especially vulnerable these days. For those in the short-let industry, key boxes and key cafes probably won’t work anymore, and therefore it is important to find a solution that allows you to share keys digitally, meaning that people are no longer forced to choose between their business and their physical safety. Klevio allows you to enter your home or workplace keyless – using only your phone. Contactless access contributes a lot to an overall cleaner workspace – by sharing digital keys you can significantly omit the chance of transmission of viruses.

Respecting employees’ rights to feel safe

The extent to which a person social distances will depend on their unique risk factors, and the risk factors of those close to them.  Some will choose to completely avoid contact with others and will continue to work remotely, while others will return to the office but will try to limit interactions with others. It is important to respect the rights of employees to feel safe at work and Klevio offers the perfect solution to this. As an office manager, you can unlock office doors for the delivery guy, cleaners or anyone else to let them in even if you’re working from home. The obvious benefits to this are that, not only a positive workforce but also the possibility for a business to continue when it might not otherwise be possible.

Klevio dashboard in all of its glory

The last feature to mention is the Klevio dashboard. Event log lets you see how many people enter the office via the Klevio app. Using time-limited keys, the office manager can limit the number of people that are allowed to enter the office at the same time. People interacting less is crucial and the dashboard gives you a great insight into how crowded the office is truly getting.

Washing our hands and using hand sanitizer stations is the last line of defence before the virus enters our bodies. It’s important to think about what we touch and how we can make our lives as contactless as possible. Reducing the number of things one would touch means less opportunity for virus transmission and creates a more hygienic environment overall. What do you think about the new reality we’re now living in and what are your suggestions for returning to the office safely? For any questions or comments, we’re here for you at hello@klevio.com
