Keyless, contactless, touchless – those are without the doubt some of the most searched adjectives in the last few weeks. There are a lot of solutions on the market that can help you achieve what you’re looking for – probably a way to make access safer in these unprecedented times brought about by COVID-19. However, a lot of solutions are only going to help you partially and you’ll eventually find yourselves touching something that you would rather avoid. That is why we’ve put together a list of all the equipment and technology that you’ll need in order to remain completely contactless as you enter your office, home or any other property.
Klevio device and Klevio app or dashboard
In the access equation, Klevio covers the unlocking part. It probably isn’t breaking news to you that Klevio enables you to unlock doors remotely from anywhere in the world. Klevio enables you to control both the outside communal door and your office or apartment door with our phone app & dashboard. Klevio can be connected to your existing access control system and will work as an add-on without any changes required to your setup. If your door is not already electrified, we can fit an electric strike to one or multiple doors in order to enable Klevio. There’s no need to change entire doors or locks – some minor modifications to the existing door frame will be needed, but all of your old keys & fobs will continue to work. The Klevio One device connects to Klevio’s secure servers via Wi-Fi or 4G. When triggered by the app, our servers communicate with the device and instruct it to unlock your doors. Thanks to Klevio, we’ve just got rid of keys and not only do we not have to worry about carrying them around, but we also don’t have to worry about touching them.
Foot, wrist or elbow door puller
Although Klevio allows us contactless unlocking, we still have to open doors to enter into the office, home or any other property. Of course, we can push the door to enter, but eventually, we’ll have to pull them when leaving or vice versa (that is unless we are using automated doors, but more on that below). That is when the foot, wrist or elbow door pullers come in handy: there are quite a lot of different options on the market. They were initially invented for public restroom doors to allow people the option of opening the door using their foot, wrist or elbow instead of their clean hands. Nowadays with everyone being extra cautious regarding hygiene and unnecessarily touching surfaces, these are low-cost, effective ways to give your employees, customers or visitors a touchless, germ-free option of opening the doors. They can be made from PVC or aluminium and can be mounted on most wooden or metal doors. Foot door openers attach to the bottom of the door so any foot can pull open the door, elbow door pullers are installed above or instead of the regular door handle and wrist door pullers are designed to slip your wrist in and pull so you don’t touch the door with your hands. All of the mentioned door pullers are particularly suited to doors with self-closing mechanisms.
No-touch exit button
The last thing we need to worry about after we’ve successfully entered the office, home or any other property is how we’re going to leave. The so-called wave-to-exit buttons or no-touch exit buttons were designed to help you open doors with your hands full but they are ideal for situations where hygiene is of concern. These switches use IR to trigger an exit request, which can be used to unlock a door or activate a device. You simply have to wave your hand in front of the switch (up to 4″ away) and the IR sensor will detect the motion, switching the built-in relay.
Automated doors
Last but not least we have to mention automated doors as a great example of how to provide completely contactless and keyless access. Automated doors are electrified by design – however, Klevio can be a great addition to enable them to be contactless as well. This combination can be extremely beneficial – saving time, money, opening doors remotely, letting you forget about keys & fobs and so on. But not only that – the combination of Klevio and automated doors can actually result in really great products and a whole new experience of access.
