5 Things To Consider When Choosing A Patio Doorset

When you’re remodelling your home, patio doors probably aren’t the first things that come to mind. However, installing a patio doorset can actually offer a multitude of benefits to your home including extra light and much easier access to the garden from the main areas in your home.

All sounds good, doesn’t it? But there are a few considerations you’ll need to take into account:

  1. Budget
How much do you have to spend on your project? Could a patio doorset be accommodated in that budget? There are a few different types to choose from, each with different price points.
French patio doors are the least expensive but offer just as much light and space, sliding patio doors are mid budget and are best suited to buildings with more wall space. Folding sliding doorsets are the most expensive type of patio door but also offer the most benefits in terms of practicality and style.
  2. Size
How much space have you got to play with? Smaller spaces will benefit from french patio doors as these take up the least wall space, however if you have more room on your walls you may wish to consider a sliding patio door – these also save space inside the room as you don’t need to accommodate for any doors opening!
  3. Finish
There are plenty of different finishes to choose from to make sure that your patio doorset suits the aesthetic of your home. UPVC is the most popular material as it’s easy to maintain, and it’s also the most affordable. However, if you prefer a wood finish, choosing prefinished timber patio doors are the best way to ensure that the frame won’t warp or crack with the changes in weather.
  4. Styling
How are you going to make sure that your doors suit the rest of your home? There are plenty of styling options available for patio doors, including a multitude of grid style panes, a wide selection of door hardware, and little extras such as patio screen doors to keep the bugs out in the height of summer.
